Easy Recipe: Steel-Cut Oats

I don't like to measure. I don't like to time. This is how I do oats...

Put about a cup of steel-cut oats in a large sauce pan. Choose a big one so your oats don't boileth over. :)
Add enough water that it's about an inch over the top of the oats.
Heat on high until it's boiling, then turn down to low or medium low.
Let cook for about an hour, checking occasionally that they still have enough moisture.
Once the oats are creamy, put 'em in a bowl.
Add your favorite toppings. Mine are: unsweetened applesauce, maple syrup, dried fruit, cinnamon, and almond butter, though not all at once.

This many oats will make several servings, so if it's just you, store the extra in the fridge. To reheat them, scoop some into a microwave-safe bowl, add some water (I don't know... maybe a quarter cup?) and microwave for maybe 1/5 - 2 minutes. Stir the oats and water together, add more water or heat some more until they look right, then add your toppings and enjoy.

That's how I do it, anyway.
